Ecuador Birding – The place Each Feather Tells a Story

From October 26, 2025 by means of November 8, 2025 I joined 5 different adventurers and an impressive photographer and birding information (Liron Gertsman) with Eagle-Eye Excursions to Ecuador for a photography-focused tour. This weblog collection highlights the animals (principally birds), folks and places we encountered over the 14 full days on this stunning land.

  • My Ecuador Species Depend together with Mirador y Restaurante Guaycapi jumps as much as: 63 (45 lifers)
  • Main eBird Public Hotspots: Restaurante Mirador Guaycapi

With its open‑air terrace overlooking a lush valley the place hummingbird feeders, fruit stations, and flowering shrubs have been to attract a continuing parade of dazzling birds the Mirador y Restaurante Guaycapi didn’t disappoint. The primary birds that caught my consideration have been these arriving on the fruit feeding stations. ORANGE-BELLIED EUPHONIAS appeared first, their compact our bodies glowing with a wealthy golden‑yellow stomach that contrasted superbly towards their shiny blue backs. They moved with fast, purposeful hops, their candy, whistled calls including a cheerful soundtrack to the morning.

Quickly after, each BLACK-CAPPED TANAGERS and GOLDEN TANAGERS joined the feast. The Black‑capped carried a refined class, their turquoise our bodies shimmering within the mild, capped by a neat black hood that gave them a dignified air. The Golden Tanagers, against this, have been pure brilliance—radiant yellow plumage edged with black markings, like dwelling flames darting among the many branches.

Again on the hummingbird feeders, the present intensified. As GREEN-CROWNED BRILLIANTS flashed acquainted brilliance, their shimmering inexperienced crowns and daring white leg puffs reminding me of encounters in Costa Rica, now rekindled on this Andean setting. Alongside them, FAWN-BREASTED BRILLIANTS hovered with a quiet confidence, their heat buffy underparts glowing towards emerald backs, a brand new species for me and a delight to look at.

Subsequent got here the diminutive ANDEAN EMERALD, a small hummingbird with a glowing inexperienced physique and snowy white underparts, darting out and in of the feeders with delicate precision. Following shut behind was the PURPLE-THROATED WOODSTAR, tiny and bumblebee‑like, its fast wingbeats producing a mushy hum as its throat flashed violet within the shifting mild.
